Bioethics Panel Programme on 'Big Data and Artificial Intelligence'

As part of the launch, the BAC and NLB organised a Bioethics Panel Programme on 29 October 2022 at the Possibility Room, level 5, National Library Building, with Emeritus Professor Lee Eng Hin, BAC Chair and Emeritus Professor, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Emeritus Consultant, Division of Paediatric Orthopaedics, National University Hospital (NUH), Guest-of-Honour.

The programme featured:

• Introductory talk on bioethics (by Dr Voo Teck Chuan, BAC member and Assistant Professor, NUS Centre for Biomedical Ethics)

• Talk on the ethical dilemma of Big Data and AI use in Human Biomedical Research (by Professor Julian Savulescu, Director, NUS Centre for Biomedical Ethics)

• Panel discussion on emerging ethical issues arising from the use of Big Data and AI in biomedical research

• Moderator:

  • Professor Patrick Tan Boon Oi, BAC member and Cancer and Stem Cell Biology Programme, Duke-NUS Medical School
